World Pheasant Association

The IUCN-SSC Galliformes Specialist Group and the World Pheasant Association (WPA) have maintained a longstanding and collaborative working relationship in the effort to conserve Galliformes species globally. The two organizations have worked closely together for decades, pooling their respective expertise and resources to assess the status of Galliformes populations, identify and address threats, and implement on-the-ground conservation initiatives. The Galliformes Specialist Group relies on the WPA's extensive knowledge of captive rearing inpheasants, partridges, grouse, and other Galliformes, while the WPA benefits from the IUCN's comprehensive data and global conservation framework. This synergistic partnership has been instrumental in driving research, informing policy, and catalyzing targeted conservation actions to secure a future for these ecologically and culturally important birds.
